Local Happenings: Times Talks

September 20, 2017

We're right around the corner from the New York Times building and love being in the loop about Times Talks. Anthony Bourdain & Danny Bowein are the modern masters of culinary adventure, but on Thursday 10/5 they'll be discussing a different side of the food industry: global food waste, its implications, and thoughts on solutions. Led the Times' Kim Severson, this is sure to be an eye-opening event. Afterwards, we'd love to have you at The Skylark afterwards to enjoy every last drop.

Via NYTIMES: Join the award–winning author, TV host, producer and former chef, Bourdain, and James–Beard winning chef and Co–Founder of Mission Chinese, Bowien, as they discuss one of the most pressing issues of our time: global food waste. "WASTED! The Story of Food Waste" is a feature–length documentary that will change how people buy, cook and eat food. Every year, 1.3 billion tons of food is thrown out. That’s $218 billion worth of food produced for human consumption that never gets eaten. With one–third of the world’s food being thrown away even before it reaches the plate, it’s time to shed new light on what is food and what is garbage. Join Kim Severson, a Southern–based correspondent for The Times who covers the nation’s food culture, in conversation with Bourdain and Bowien as they embark on a food revolution.
